This is what I played with today. I needed a box to store DVD's. So I had an old photo box stored away. It had roosters on it,but the design on the box was ugly even if it had roosters. So this is how I did a re -do on the rooster box. I just love the soft shabby chic look. My living room is traditional, but I added soft touches to soften the dark of the cherry wood. I hope you enjoy looking at these photos. Please leave comments and let me know what you think. Too soft for the entertainment center?

I placed the box on top of the entertainment center. Its centered between to delicate floral plates. I think it adds a little femininity to the dark masculine wood.

This is what the top of the box looks like. The lace circle, I have had on hand for a long time. It had the ugliest plastic roses attached to the center. Well, of course they had to go. I replaced it with some of the roses I used to make my flower arrangement in my last post. I got these roses at the dollar tree, and they have like sugary dew drops. They are so pretty for something that came from a dollar store.
The center rose is one I had in my stash. It has just enough pink to match the scrap book paper I used to cover the top of the box. The lace thingies, I took off a wedding bouquet. I bought the bouquet at a yard sale and of course took it apart. I use the separate pieces in other projects as well.

I glued ecru lace all around the box. I then had an ecru doily so I cut it in half. I glued the doily to the box,just up to where the rim of the box top. On the doily, I glued two roses and two lace thingies. I think the lace at the bottom of the doily is just so pretty.

I put a little cream organza bow on each end of the box. In the center of the bow I placed a cream fabric rose and put a pearl in the center of the rose.This is to hide the ugly handles of the box.

This is the back side of the box. I used the other half of the doily. Put another two roses and the lace thingies. I think it ties is all together nicely.

I am using this box to store my DVD's. I don't think anyone would ever guess that this box stored black plastic ugly...........LOL

How I spent my afternoon!

I apologize up front for these pictures. I don't know what happened. But I wanted to share with you how I spent my afternoon.
I took the afternoon off for a mental health break. I needed to create something....anything.........So here is what I came up with, it was a quick and short project.
I found the florals all at the Dollar Tree. The container was a yard sale find. I loved the copper color. It matches my master bedroom so very well. I know interior designers think silk flowers are of bad taste, but I still use them anyway. In the summer I have more fresh florals out, but for now.....these make me happy.

This was my weekend project. The birdhouse was one that is used as a card collector at a wedding. It was brassy gold, so of course that had to go. I spray painted it with my oil rubbed bronze that I love so much. I can't make a bow. i even watched a you tube video on how to make bows. I could not get how they did the twist thingie. So this is my version of a bow. The roses I had on hand. The berries are some I found at the dollar tree this weekend.,
I put a beautiful rose plate in the bottom of the cage and used the cage to display my Victorian dressed teddy bear. Again I don't know how long this will stay here, but for now here its there in its place of honor, LOL

I am not a photographer. This photo is my attempt to show you how I used the rusty keys. I bought the keys at Kirkland's this weekend.

I did a do over on the vignette on the trunk in the sun room. I put my tea set back in the china cabinet. I bought the fleur thingie at Kirklands this weekend. If you look closely in the box the keys above are in there. The box I made sometime ago. I posted about it already.

My hubby painted the rocking chair a leather brown. It use to be white wicker. We bought it at Lowe's years ago, As you can see the wreath is gone. I put it in storage, will probably try to sell it at the flea market. The picture hanging on the wall behind the rocker is one I had in the poweder room. I re did the powder room this weekend. I will show you the changes in there sometime this week.
I plan to paint the frame of the picture oil rubbed bronze, unless I can find a picture I like better for that wall. I really don't like this picture,

Good Evening Bloggers!!
Another weekend coming to an end and another work week starts! Some day I can stay home and just play but for now its back to work I go.

I have done some shopping and so I thought I would post some of my purchases. They were all bought at different times.
I also thought I would share the wreath I made with recycled materials. I am trying to use up some of my crafting supplies, all a part of my purging plan.
So I hope you enjoy!

I have needed new every day dinner ware for a long time now. I was out shopping at Big Lots this weekend. I came across this set of basic red. I thought they would be just fine since I love red and red is my kitchen theme.
I have the old dinner ware boxed and ready to go to Goodwill.

I bought these two tea towels at TJ Max some time ago. I forgot to post them. I thought they were adorable, so they had to come home with me.

I was at Belk's the other day looking for a wind jacket for my hubbie. I was able to find one.
I always roam through the home department to look at all their beautiful things. I rarely buy new decorations because I can either fix something up or find it at a yard sale. But that day Belk had some fall decor on 85% off. I found this cute little sunflower bowl, so I could not resist it for such an awesome price.

I had an old foam ring upstairs in storage with all my extra silk florals. I thought I would try to make a wreath. This is what I came up with. I have this hanging on a wall in our sun room. It probably will not stay there long. I tend to get tired of wreaths pretty fast. But for now here it is.

Tweaking again!

Good Evening Friends!
Has this week end gone fast or what? I spent most of the weekend purging things out of drawers and closets. I am taking them to Goodwill tomorrow. Is my SUV going to be packed,but lots of junk will be gone. I made a resolution to purge this year. I still have a lot more to do.
Hope you enjoy the photos of my playing around again this weekend. I love to decorate. I just wish I was better at being creative. But I think I do pretty good for someone with no talent. LOL

Here I go again, tweaking the dang entertainment center again. I love the piece it self, but I can not for the life of me get the decorations on top to satisfy me. This is going to have to do for awhile, until I can come up with a better vision, LOL
I know, I know the bowl in the middle is not centered. I fixed it after the photo was taken. I also rearranged the shelves on the bottom. I realized I did not replace the vase I had on the top shelf. I left it setting on the second shelf and took the photo.

I shopped the house for this small lamp. My hubbie has the black speaker boxes and other electrical boxes setting around the family room , on the entertainment center and the kitchen bar. I hate them, but I love the hubbie so I compromise.

I spray painted a wooden square bowl,ORB. Then I turned it over and sat the champagne bucket with flowers on top. I thought it would look better with some height.

I found the two old books at yard sale this weekend. They were 50 cents. I removed the large lamps and replace it with this smaller one. The flowers and candlesticks with the birds I kept in the vignette.

This is a little vignette I put together and placed on a trunk I have in the sun room.
The plate I found at a yard sale last summer. The photo is of me and hubby,the first year we went to Jamaica. I was a blond then.
The tea set is one my son brought back from Okinawa when he was stationed there. I cherish it dearly.
The lamp I found at Ole Time Pottery. It had a gold base,and of course the gold had to be replaced with ORB.

This bench was my yard sale find this weekend. When I brought it home it was a beat up brown color, a light maple or something. It was ugly. It also had one of the arms pulled loose from the back and a spindle loose as well. Being the handy man my hubbie is, he fixed the arm and spindle. Then he painted it of course Oil Rubbed Bronze. Not bad for a ten dollar bench eh?
When I brought it home he ask me where did I think I was going to put it in the house. He said somethings gotta go. He brought it into the house and placed it against this wall in the entry way. He said , hey this looks good here. No more talk of me getting rid of something. LOL

Good Evening my friends! I love Christmas and the New Year, but I am so glad the holidays are over. I am ready to settle down to just plain normal.
I hope everyone is doing great! I have been visiting around blog land to see what ideas I can borrow from others. There are some really creative people out there in blogland.
I wanted to post some of the tweaking I have been doing this week in the house. I don't know why, but everything I did I am not quite satisfied with. I guess I am in a mood. So you may see some more tweaking in the near future.
For now I hope you enjoy and leave comments and suggestions.

Projects I did today!

As you view the photos you will see how I utilized some of the projects I completed today. I was in spray paint heaven.

Fire Place

I decided to change out the look of the mantle after Christmas. The candle sticks I had there before and decided to keep them on the mantle The two transfer ware plates are Staffordshire England. Since I had a nautical print on the wall above the fireplace, I thought the plates would fit right in to the decor.
The lantern is a yard sale find that I painted. The faux books I use to have on the credenza. I shopped the house for skinny candlestick.

CREDENZA

I love the rose print hanging on the wall. I was so glad to be able to find these roses to match the print. The vase they are in came from a yard sale. The candlesticks I was going to paint them today, but decided I liked them just as they were. I cleaned them up with some polish and placed the little birdies on top. They were a dollar for the pair at the yard sale.
The lamps I like, but not on this credenza. I feel they are too big for the piece of furniture. But the hubby likes the look,so I kept them there just for him.

ENTERTAINMENT CENTER

This what I did with the top of the entertainment center. I love the Champagne bucket with the flowers. I do not like the silver bowl in the center with the pine cones I am at a loss of what to do with the middle as I can not block the view of the television.
I found the book at Marshalls today. The fennel thing I had and the candle sticks. I already had the bird. The candle stick the bird is setting on , was gold, but of course it is now Oil Rubbed Bronze.
If anyone has any suggestions of what I can do to make this entertainment center look more attractive, please give me some ideas. I have tweaked this thing a million times and never like what I do completely.

Entry Hall

This is photos of the things in our entry hall. I plan to change it all out at some point with some new pieces of furniture. But for now the furniture I have will have to do.

I found this table at Salvation Army. I bought the lamp and the other tall thingie at Kirklands.

I found the flower arrangement on the little table at a yard sale for a dollar.

This is the print hanging over the little table in the entry hall. Its a very cheap print from Family Dollar. I intend to change it when I find something nice I really like.

I found this star at Marshalls today, it was on clearance for four dollars. It is made out recycled paper. I thought it was ugly as it was, so I painted it of course, my favorite spray paint Oil Rubbed Bronze..........ahhhhhhh much better!

There was on yard sale this past Saturday. I paid five dollars. I would not normally spend more than three dollars for something like this, but I caved on this one.

Good Evening Bloggers! Well the Christmas Holiday is over and its back to work tomorrow. I wanted to share the new photos I received via email from Japan.
I tell you seeing Emily eating at a Japanese restaurant breaks my heart! She should have been with the rest of her family her in America opening tons of presents from Santa and eating turkey and ham and all the American fixings.
They were 9 and 7 when their mother kidnapped them and took them to Japan. They are 13 and 11 now.
Finally, the mother is allowing some communication again. She has mood swings and sometimes she cuts our communication completely. I pray for her, and I pray for my grandchildren every day. But it was wrong for her to kidnap the children , just plain wrong.
All I want now is for my grandchildren to live a happy and healthy life. But I have to admit that I want them to live that life here.
I guess I am journaling my feelings right now. So be patient with me.
I am so Thankful to have any communication I can with them.

This is exciting news for all parents/grandparents whose children/grandchildren have been abducted from America and taken to JAPAN!
This gives us all hope that someday our children/grandchildren will be returned to their American families.

Yard Sale finds! Retail therapy!

Good Evening.
MY Vacation is over so its back to work I go in the morning. However thankfully I will be off for about five days counting the weekend for Christmas.
I wanted to share my yard sale finds and my retail therapy haul. I hope you enjoy this brief post. Unfortunately the photo I took of the arrangement setting between my two lamps on my credenza did not transfer.. So I just posted what did take. I will post the full photo maybe tomorrow evening. I hope you enjoy.

Yard Sale Finds

For some reason the complete photo of this did not transfer to my computer. So you will not get the full effect of this piece and its beauty. But this is a gorgeous arrangement. I have similar arrangements in Michaels for 140.00 dollars or more. I paid 4.00 for this one.

I have seen these "urns or buckets" all over blogland. I have no clue what they are for, someone told me they are used to keep Champagne or wine on ice. I don't know. My husband and I do not drink, nor do we serve alcohol when we entertain.
But I am completely sure there is some decorative use for this beautiful container. Suggestions are welcome!

Retail Therapy!!

I could not pass up this little silver bird. It was just waiting there on the shelf just for me!!

Some of you are aware I love to use Cardinals at Christmas. Mostly because it is the Ky State bird and it happens to be red. At least the male is red.
I found this bowl at Marshals. I had to have some retail therapy after vacation. I am slowly beginning to build a supply of Cardinal dishes to use at Christmas.

We made it back from Jamaica, boy did the week fly by, just was not enough time. We had an awesome time. We met a lot of nice people, ate lots of delicious food, and got some much need R & R!

Christmas Decorating

Good Afternoon my friends!
It is that time of year for my husband and I. We leave next week for Jamaica for a much needed vacation for me. So this will be my last post for a couple of weeks.
I thought today I would share a few of my decorations I have out for Christmas.
Please remember, I am not a photographer and I don't stage for photos. So what you see is real life Susan and her taste in decorating.
I hope everyone has had an awesome weekend! I only have to work two days and then Wednesday we are leaving on a jet plane! Take care everyone!!

I thought I would first the simple decorations in the guest bedroom. I decided to only use angels in this room. The blue angel is a yard sale find. The microfiber lighted angel is a after Christmas find. I don't remember where I found her though.

I placed a little cream colored angel on end table beside the bed.

I moved these two tall candle sticks to the entry hall and placed it under my oval mirror. I just added glittered gold candles with a red berry ring under the candles.

I found this tear drop wreath at a yard sale. It got a make over. I added some cardinals and other Christmas pics to make it prettier.

I temporarily placed this round table in a corner in the entry hall. It came out of the sun room to make room for the Christmas tree. I decided to place the cone Christmas thingie I made from Christmas pics! I put a green lighted garland around the bottom of container in which the cone sits.

I placed a simple poinsettia on the little table in the entry way. ( I plan to put a real poinsettia plant there when it gets closer to Christmas. On the bottom of the little table,I placed a red angel that I bought at JC PENNY after Christmas sale many years ago.

This how I decorated the seating corner in the Master Bedroom.

This is a close up of the Master Bedroom tree. The Master Bedroom is done in burnt oranges and browns, so I kept with that theme with the tree.

I placed two snowmen and a lighted train on the dresser in the Master Bedroom.

This is the little hall that goes to the Master Bedroom. I placed a garland of lights around the basket. I placed Christmas ornaments all around the candle. The Candle is a holiday candle I bought last year at Bed Bath and Beyond when they were having the after Christmas sales.

I placed a dancing Santa on the old fashioned radio that is in the sun room. The Santa dances to Jingle Bell Rock. The glittered boot and Ho Ho is a Michael s find last year. I found the little teddy bear for 25 cents at a yard sale. The lighted glass box was a yard sale find for fifty cents. It got a do over on the ribbon.

I covered the chair in the sun room with this red floral quilt. The red blanket I embroidered a head of a snowman in the corner of the blanket. The Santa Hat I embroidered my name and just laid it on the blanket.

This wreath is hanging on a wall in the sun room. I found it at a Yard Sale for a dollar. It was brand new in the box. It may have been two dollars. I can't remember.

In the living room and sun room I chose to use a red and gold and white theme. I bought the garland at Michael s years ago. I also bought the glittered roses there as well. The glittered Merry Christmas is a yard sale find. The cardinal stockings I found at Goodwill.

I made this little guy last year when we were living in the condo.

ThanksGiving!

Happy Thanksgiving my friends!! This has been a time of reflection for me. A time to reflect on how lucky I am to have the family I have, the friends I have and the many blessings that our creator has given me.
Little ole me. How do I deserve such awesome blessings in my life?
As I reflect I am so Thankful for every event of my life, both good and bad. With each blessing came joy and peace. With every hardship, pain, hurt that I endured, came a wonderful lesson out of the storm.
I hope that we all can be Thankful for the loving God we serve. His love is greater than any sickness we endure, and all we need to know this, is to look at our children, our pets, and the beautiful natural elements and how he designed the earth.
I plan to serve him better this next year, to be a better person, to give more of myself to his service, to bless others with gifts of love and compassion. This is all he ask of us, is to do unto others as he would do for us.

The Chrismas tree in the sun room! I will add post at a later time for all my Christmas decorations. These photos are ones my hubby took. Hopefully, I will fell well enough soon to have the energy to start posting regularly again!
The dinner table all dressed up and waiting for Thanksgiving dinner. We kept the tablescape very simple because it is custom for us to put all the food on the table and do the passing around the table thing. The table is partially done in this photo as we had not yet added the water glasses and other drink glasses and cups.
This is my daughter and I in our aprons getting ready to do up the Thanksgiving meal! . Oh yeah in case you did not know she is the one in polka dot apron "wink". It looks like I have been working hard cooking. But I did mostly nothing with this meal. When you read the post below you will understand why.
This is my only daughter and I tell you folks she is made of gold! Most of you know that I struggle with COPD and Sarcoidiosis. These past month I have really been struggling. Hence fewer post.
Anyway, this golden child of mine cooked Thanksgiving dinner all by herself and it was very good. She did allow me to peel the potatoes and cut up the veggies, but made me sit down while I did that. She allowed her brother to make the turkey gravy. But everyone else was banned from the kitchen!

My daughter posted this picture on face book with the caption, "Revenge is Sweet". #2 son had told his mother a secret that she did not want me to know. It was not a bad secret, just a phone call she had made to her brother when she was partying with her friends. She did not think Mom would approve of her "tasting the spirits". LOL
#1 Son. This is my first born. He is a pleasure to be around. He loves to hunt
and was proudly showing photos of the big buck he gamed this year. Just so you know, I DO NOT LIKE THE IDEA OF SHOOTING ANY ANIMALS,but my son has a good heart in every way. He just enjoys the sport of hunting. He firmly believes it is Gods way of keeping the deer from starving from being over populated. So even though I don't agree, it is his decision. I love him unconditionally!

These Deer bed down in my daughters back yard. There are deer every where in the housing development. They are not afraid of people, so they go everywhere and do not run when they see people.

These are horses that are near my daughters home!! These are not the best looking Kentucky HORSES. BUT KENTUCKY HAS SOME BEAUTIFUL HORSES. I just did not have a lot of time to take all the pictures I wanted.

Christmas Houses and Fall Finds!

Good Afternoon Bloggers! I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend thus far! It seems they are never long enough. I see that blogger is doing something different in how you post your photos. Its actually loading them on the page vs just the typed message. Hmmmmmmm.

I thought would do a short post on the houses I altered. I used glittered scrap paper for the house with the pink roof. I also used glitter on all the flowers and leaves to give them a little sparkle. The snow flakes are Christmas ornaments, they had their own glitter.
Also the two fall decorations I found this weekend. The Welcome wall hanging was 50 cents. The basket was a dollar!

I paid three dollars for this glittered wood piece. I may have paid too much. But it has never been used, so I thought it was worth it.

Good Evening my friends in blogland!!
Its a rainy Monday in South Carolina!! But I love the rain! I wanted to share the few yard sale finds of the weekend.
Also, I have been doing some projects. So this is just a short post.

I want to make a note about blogging today. Some of you were posting , or somewhere in blogland I read this statement. You think it is rude to make small comments on bloggers post like: Very Nice! or Nice! and then post nothing else.
I have to say I am guilty of this. But just so you know I try to get around each day to my reading list and visit every blog that has posted.
Because I am so drained at the end of the day, a Very Nice is all I can get out. But I want to post something to let you know I visit your blogs. Just saying.

I made this basket out of an old Christmas container.It had snowflakes painted all over the tin. I painted it spice brown, added some ecru lace, a bow and a flower. Just because I could.......LOL

Upcycled Sweat Shirt or Maybe Not?
I know , I know these altered sweatshirt days have came and gone. What can I say I am a little behind the times. I am always looking for things to embroidery at yard sales. I found this sweat shirt for 50 cents and decided to upcycle it.
I sewed a Vintage doily in the center of the shirt and embroidered a rose on the center of the doily.geeeeeeeaz oh pete that is a long sentence.
I embroidered a rose on each shoulder.

Before: Do you remember this horse picture I found at the Yard sales. Well the white frame was not cutting it at this house. Sunday, my sweet hubby surprised me and painted it Oil rubbed Bronze.

After: I think it looks much better wearing Oil Rubbed Bronze. Our walls are eggshell so it will look much better on the wall painted this color

Good Evening bloggers! I hope every one's week started off to a good start.
This is just a brief post to share a project. I have been working on this snowman for several weeks now. I have many a burned finger to prove that I glued each one of the beads individually. It was a tedious task, but I think worth it in the end. I guess I have had snow on my mind since my snowflake disease made its ugly appearance. I thought I would turn it into a positive.

The UK on the hat, is for the University of Kentucky. I graduated from there with my Masters degree. It is located in Lexington, Kentucky. My daughter lives there now and is a avid UK basketball and football fan.
She just bought a new house,so this will be a housewarming gift for her. I am going to see her November 5. I am looking forward to going back home for a visit.

Let me know what you think about my snow guy! I did not get his head strait but I think it gives him character.

Good Evening Blogger friends! I hope everyone's week is going well. This has been not so good of a week for me. Over the past month I have felt incredibly bad. I don't know if I have shared before that I have Sarcoidiosis in my lungs along with COPD. My sarcoid had been stable until now. My pulmonary doctor told me Monday I was having a flare up again. So I am back on the Predisone and Methotrexate. I hate the Predisone because I gain so much weight when I take it. So I am not a happy camper because my weight is already and issue for me.

The symbol for Sarcoidiosis is the snow flake so I guess you can say.........I am snowing again. LOL

Oh well on the fun side, I have been doing some more fallin and painting. So without further ado I will share with you with you my projects!! Hope you enjoy!

This is what I did with the table. I spray painted it of course with Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint. I think it looks so much better than the gold.

Fall tweaking!

I had these two tall candlesticks when we lived in our old house. They were looking shabby so I updated them with Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint. I bought the candle votive holders at Big Lots.

Yard Sale Finds!

Good Afternoon my friends!! Have I had fun today. It was cool and misting rain, but that did not stop me from going to yard sales. I lucked out today and there was a community yard sale not far from my home. I love community yard sales because I can get my fix and go home!
I cleaned house when I came home. So now I am tired.
Hope everyone has a wonderful after noon!!

This little country Christmas bear was one dollar. It will look cute in a Christmas vignette.

I love this picture of horses. I am from horse country originally the Bluegrass State,Ky. I will of course paint the frame Oil Rubbed Bronze because it looks so good up against our egg shell white walls.

This gold table with glass was 5.00. Of course it will not stay gold. I plan to do a make over and use my beloved Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint.

This gold bag and the red bag below are Estee Lauder bags. The lady had both of these bags and sold them to me for 2.00. They have never been used.

I do not know where I will display this pillow. But I think it is so cute with the doll and the bear pattern. I paid a dollar for it.

I found this Christmas pillow and the comforter below for 5.00. I have a table cloth that has the same embroidery as this pillow. During the holidays, I will display this pillow in the gold chair next to my dining room table.

This is a huge bird cage that was used in a wedding. I will most certainly do a makeover. I am not sure what color to spray paint it, please make suggestions. I want it to look more traditional vs shabby chic.

This floral arrangement was 1.00. I will use it in a vignette after the holidays.

I don't know if anyone knows this in blogland. But I collect piggy banks. I found this one today for 50 cents. Is it not a cutie?

Tweakin and Fallin!

Good Evening Bloggers! This is a day of remembrance for all those that lost their life in the 911 tragedy. I am sorry I did not have an appropriate picture to post.
I was at work when this tragedy happen. Along with the others I was crying as I watched the planes go into the World Trade Center. I keep all of the families in my prayers.
I wanted to share the tweaking I did this weekend to some areas in our home. I added more fall decorations!
I love to decorate, even though I am not the best at doing it. But it sure is fun for me to try! Hope you enjoy and leave me feedback on any changes you would make.

Dining Room Table

I changed the runner on the dining room table to a fall runner. It has pumpkin like things around the edges. The center piece is an old bucket I had on hand. I painted it using Folk Art Acrylic Paint in the Linen color. I tied raffia around the top and added the fall silverware pouch I found at Kirklands some time ago. I added the hydrangeas and the other huge flowers.
The creamy pumpkins were part of last years collection. I found the rooster votive holder at the Largest Yard sale for a dollar! I added the little sage green votive

Entertainment Center

I used Celestina's hand painted pumpkin as the center focal point. I placed it on a black candle stand to give it some height!
I added a squash and a pumpkin and two tiny birds on the right side. I found the two little birds at the largest yard sale. They were a quarter for birth birds. The squash and the pumpkin I had from last years decorations.
On the left side,I added a large leaf plate I found at a yard sale. You will recognize the other two leaf plates at Family Dollar finds!

Kitchen Table!!

I tweaked the kitchen table to have it decorated for fall! The pumpkin salt and pepper shakers, I found at the Dollar Store last year. The table runner I made, it has chickens embroidered with the fall colors! The place mats I shared before,were found at a yard sale.

Fireplace Mantle!

I changed the fireplace mantle out to add fall decorations. The leaf plate is a Home Goods find. The apple plate I found this week end at the Largest Yardsale. You recognize the little votive vases and the pumpkins from Family Dollar!
You will notice in the bottom photo in the corner a mess in the sun room. That is the rest of my yard sale finds from this weekend.

Good Evening Bloggers. I finally was able to complete a couple of projects. I thought I had lost all my creative inspiration. I would start something, mess it up and quit!!

Tweaking the Shabby Chic Room!

I added this lamp to the corner. I made the lamp shade yesterday afternoon. It was an old lamp shade that I had in storage, so I shabbied it up with roses and lace. The lamp was a four dollar Salvation Army find. It was also in storage.

I re- decorated the wicker coffee table.

I have posted a picture of this white cabinet before. It was a yard sale find! It was painted a ugly green, so of course I shabbied it with white paint.

The hat boxes actually hold some hats. A couple I store trim for craft projects! I forgot to straiten the lamp shade. Oh well we all have seen crooked lamp shades before! LOL. I bought the pink afghan at Goodwill quite some time ago, as well as the little pillow in the chair. The lamp was a yard sale find!

Good Afternoon, my friends! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday. I got up early this morning and went to the yard sales! I found a lot of stuff, nothing special!
I thought I would share my yard sale finds, a small project and dollar tree and Family dollar finds!! I had not posted anything new all week. So I thought I needed to share something with my friends!!
My creative juices have quit flowing. I have tried and tried to get in the mood to sew or craft and everything I touch something goes wrong and I get frustrated!
I think my body is tired and telling me take a break for awhile. Because the last thing I tried to sew , I started crying because I messed it up so badly.
It has been a touch few weeks for me physically and emotionally. But I will get through all this and soon feel like my old self again!!

Good Evening Blogging Friends! I certainly hope everyone is having an awesome Monday! Life is too short to allow one day go by without appreciating its beauty. It sometimes hard to recognize what a good and awesome God we have in a world that appears as if nothing good happens any more!
We have to take the time and look for the beauty in all things, and understand that God in his infinite wisdom has a plan and a reason for all things. Even the bad.
I wanted to share with you the projects I have been working on this weekend. Actually I finished the Hat Box about 12:30 AM last night.
I find that if I create a little bit of beauty , then the world is a brighter place for me. It is so healing to my soul and body to spend time in my craft room and enjoying what God has blessed me with.

When I altered this band box I decided to embellish it as a Victorian Hat Box. With Roses, satin bows, lace and pearls.I think it turned out really pretty. When I was creating the alterations to this box, I thought of my sweet friend Olivia at Olivia's Romantic Home. This is the same direction she would decorate a box like this With all the pinks and lace!!

I added a couple of muted green bows and the same muted roses from the top.

I put pink pearls and a pink rose bud to the center of the little crocheted doiles.

Do you remember posting about this container as part of last weeks garage sale haul.?

I painted the outside of the container with Acrylic craft paint. The color is called Linen. I modged podged some blue gingham like scrap book paper and glued on some of my Jamaican sea shells. It matches our blue guest bathroom. I added some blue face cloths so my guest can find them easily when they visit.

Do you remember this little rust colored bath and body works bag. Well I did a little embellishing!

Good Afternoon bloggers.
I am sitting her watching Fright Night 2 and updating my blog! This has been a long and emotional week for me at work. I will not go into the details. I needed some things to distract my mind from thinking too much!
I cleaned house after I came home from yard saleing. I feel so much better when it is all clean and beautiful!

This Thanksgiving Tablecloth was a dollar. It fits my dining room table!!

This little piece of pottery is Roseville. It has my first name on it "Elizabeth". I had to get it just for that reason.

There are six of these napkins. I got all six for a buck!

This little silver piece needs some love, but I thought it was cute.

Both of these were 25 cents! The little rust colored bag is a Bath Body works bag. It has the look that is perfect for fall! Of course it will get a little bling added to it, to enhance its cuteness.

I saw these same candle votives at Marshall's for 5.00. They had 50% off these at Rite Aid so I bought them for 2.00. I just really think they are so pretty, with all the glitter and the fall leaves.

I haven't did a new post for awhile now. Last weekend I found absolutely nothing at yard sales. This week, I found some things, but nothing really special. But I thought I would share my finds with you friends!!
I hope everyone is doing well. I have not been myself lately. I have been struggling with my health. When I struggle with my breathing and other health problems I get depressed. I don't know why. But I lose interest in doing anything.
I am finally feeling like myself again!! So thought I would do a new post! Hope you enjoy!

I paid two dollars for this new sketch pad. I have a book that teaches how to draw a rose. I am bound and determined to learn to paint and draw roses.

This little hanging pail was 25 cents. It was a bath and body works thingie. I will paint it blue and put it in my guest bathroom to store face cloths.

Good Evening bloggers!
I hope everyone is having a great week! I know people are struggling with this heat. I worry so much about our elderly here in South Carolina who do not have air conditioners,or do not use their air conditioners because of the high cost of electricity.
I am thankful that God has blessed me to have more than the comforts in life!! I think sometimes we or I forget how much I truely have in comparison to others. Or I just take it for granted.

Project!

This was a project I worked on over the weekend. This piece of MDS board was in the box with our treadmill we bought. So , me being don't throw any thing out if you can use it, came up with this idea.
I had all this scrap book flowers on hand so I used them for this project. Also the trim I had as well. The little brow heart at the top I cut from a botched embroidery project. The photo of the girl was a photo from a new frame. It was the display picture they used to show you how a picture of a person would look in the frame. So on this project, I used up, repurposed and recycled. I think I did good! Whatcha think? The picture of the girl looks wrinkled in this photo for some reason. It is not wrinkled in real life............I don't know why.

I have had questions about where and what I do with all the stuff I buy at yard sales. Well, I do enjoy shopping and yard sales. But I have a rule, for as much as I bring in, I try to donate that much out. I usually keep a a couple of boxes available. When I clean I try to find ways to purge! These are my purge boxes that are going to Good Will. I place things in these boxes until I get them full and off they go to Goodwill. They are sitting in my guest room right now. Usually I keep the boxes in my storage space upstairs and just add to them as I find things. I also have a bag of clothing in my bedroom closet to go to Good Will as well.

Tweaking and Yard Sale Finds!!

Good afternoon blogger friends!! It is exhaustively hot here in Myrtle Beach. I have been using my nebulizer every day just to be able to breath!!
I have been busy today, painting and tweaking. I thought I would share my project with you. Also I found some great junk this weekend at yard sales! So be prepared this is a long post!!

TWEAKING!

You guys will remember I previously added the picture and the greenery to our bedroom hall wall. Well I did a bit more tweaking by adding a cabinet with a vignette!!

A close up view of the cabinet. It use to be an ugly country blue! It was setting in our garage. I had some oil rubbed bronze spray paint and so I thought.......uhmmmmmmm this was the result of my uhmmmmmmmmmmm.

I already had on hand everything in this vignette. I took and old basket and added a doily. I put a candle stand in the middle and poured gardenia potpourri all around the candle stand. Then I added some decorative balls and placed a candle on the candle stand.

Favorite weekend find!!

I paid five dollars for this painting! It is my favorite find of the weekend. I hung it in my dining room. It matches my Old Country Roses china!

Good Evening my friends! We finally had a couple of cool days and was able to sit outside a couple of evenings! Its all suppose to go away by the end of the week. It
is suppose to be back up in the triple digits by the end of the week.
Again it is Sunday night and its the same old story for me, dreading going back to work tomorrow. I am so ready to just be a homemaker and enjoy my new home. But that will not happen for at least five more years. Even then it is questionable , because of this economy and how they keep changing retirement eligibility.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week, I just enjoy so much visiting everyone's blogs and living vicariously through your post!
I love the little peeks you allow into your home, all your wonderful creations and watching daily how your grandchildren are growing and how sweet your pets are!

This is my Christmas in July project! I made it this weekend!

I found this thingie at a yard sale for a 1.00. It was painted an ivory color and looked very dingy. I thought I could brighten it up with some candy apple red paint! I don't know what it is suppose to be used for, but I thought I would use it to hold some of my pretty china cups! If any of my blogging friends know its real purpose please let me know. I will probably still use it as my tea cup holder! LOL

Rhinestone Frog!

I just love this cloche like thingie! I put the frog above inside it! The frog was 1.00 the cloche was 3:00.

I think this black lace purse is so feminine! I want to add something to it , possibly the bow and crown from the photo album below! The purse was a 3.00! Not a great bargain but I loved it!

Happy Fourth everyone! Just popped in for a quick note to share Saturdays yard sale finds! I have more that I will post later this week.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy fourth of July!! Our holiday was very quiet. Just the two of us. My hubby is a home body so he does not like to go to any fourth of July events. So we were pretty much at home all weekend!

There are four of these leaf plates! I thought they would be good to use in a table scape for fall or at Thanksgiving. They were 1.00 for all four! They were originally at Home Goods marked for 5.99 each!

I thought this was an interesting piece. So I am asking all my creative friends out there to give me ideas on how to use this? It was 1.00.

Good Evening friends!! This weekend went by so fast! Tomorrow starts another week!
It is still so hot here, I can't wait to get some rain so I can breath.
I thought I would share the things I found at yard sales this weekend. It was a terrible yard sale week again! I believe its the economy that people are not buying new things and are holding on to what they have.
So anyway, here they are!!

This print I decided to hang on a wall in my entry way! I like it,I don't know why because it is generally not a print I would purchase. It was 2.00.

I love this little basket stool! I paid a dollar for it! Because I could not think what to do with it, I placed in the entry way under the picture!

There was something about this navy blue plaid purse that spoke to me! So for 50 cents it came home with me.

Good Evening Friends!
It is really hot in Myrtle Beach!! It is playing havoc with my breathing. I have COPD and it makes it really difficult for me to breath! I can't go out into the heat at all or I faint , or almost.

I thought I would share this week ends yard sale finds! I don't if anyone else has been having this problem. But since the economy has been so bad, it has been difficult to find any really good bargains!! The past two week ends have been kind of blah for me for yard sale finds!

Shabby Chic Purse Project!

Good Evening everyone!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I tell you I just could not get in a creative mood until late this evening! I finally got a spark and decided I had to create at least something before the weekend was over.
I thought I would make a shabby chic romantic purse! I had all these materials on hand! I just started sewing and this is what I ended up with!! I am going to try to make some purses for the flea market. For some reason purses sell at the flea market when nothing else will sell.
I thought I would share this quick project with my blogging friends!

I made the front and the back to look the same. However the bows are on opposite sides.

The next two photos is showing how I decorated the top of my entertainment center. We bought this piece after we moved into the house. I have not shown it before because the big black box was sitting on top. Well my husband finally got the box hung on the wall. Yipee! Decorating space!!
I haven't decided if I like this vignette or not. Do you think its too much stuff? Honest answers are appreciated!

This vase was empty and needed something, so when I saw these today at Ross's I thought they would look nice in the vase. Wow! That was a long sentence! LoL

Folks, I apologize up front about the tone of this post.So please feel free not to read this post. I certainly understand. I am sad. Its my birthday and my ex daughter in law sent me pictures of my sweet grandchildren. I am grateful for that.........but its like salt in a wound. I can't be with them, watch them grow up.........

Sometimes , I wonder what I am suppose to learn, being separated from my grandchildren. They say all things happen for a reason..........but I can't help but think........what good can come from being separated from two of the most important people in the world.
Yet I can't hate, my ex daughter in law...........I still love her. but I am angry at her..........It could have been different. Both parents and grandparents could be with the children had not her selfishness got in the way.
I am just so glad to see they are somewhat happy, only I can see the sadness in their eyes...........I wish I could be with all my family...........

I am missing so much of her little life!

Good Will and Yard Sale Finds

Happy Saturday everyone!! I went to yard sales early this morning! It was a beautiful morning and there were a lot of sales. The later in the day it became, the hotter is was here in Myrtle Beach!
My husband and I went to Walmart today and toted home a Tread Mill, I am on a mission to exercise and loose some of this weight!!
I thought I would share a Good Will find and my yard sale finds for this weekend! I hope everyone enjoys!

Good Will!

This was the only thing I found on my last Good Will trip! I have really been trying to be choosey in what I buy!! I love the yellow flowers on this cup! I think it is so dainty!! It was a 1.91 at Good Will

Inside the tea cup it says March! I have a February tea cup and a June teacup as well! I have to get the rest of the months, I'll just have to keep looking.

Yard Sale Finds

I have a couple of other of these white ceramic pieces. A basket and a casserole dish with the open weave like this piece has. I love the look of this fruit bowl! It was a dollar. I did not know until I got home though it had one of the little weave thingies broken. But you cannot really tell it, so I am going to use it anyway!!

This piece was just 50 cents at a yard sale! I think it aluminum but its really heavy so I don't know what it is really. But I fell in love with the Victorian Christmas Scene forged into the piece!!

I think I have a fetish with small purses! I can't help myself, I just cannot resist buying them when I see them. However I carry a big purse to work.
This little purse , I believe I remember seeing it in Belks or Dillards. I don't remember which store. I just love the faux fur. Also the beading is so pretty. It has little heart charms hanging on the chain, as well as other charms. It was just a dollar!

I have been busy on projects today! I thought I would share them with my friends in blog land!! Hope you enjoy!

I bought this box at an Estate sale. I do not remember what I paid for it,but it was not expensive at all. It was a gilded gold. I bought some oil rubbed bronze spray paint and gave it a good spray! I love how it turned out. I know most would have painted it white , but it looks better on my coffee table this color!

This is a photo of the wall in the hall. The lamp was my husbands before we were married. I really liked it so I let him keep it! LOL. The wall was rather bare, so I thought some tweaking was due to be done!
I found this flower container at a yard sale (of course). I sprayed painted it the same oil rubbed bronze that I used to paint the box!

Good Evening Bloggers! I thought I would share some random photos of stuff. I don't think I have ever shared the upstairs bathroom or my craft room. Please excuse the mess in the craft room. It will probably stay messy. I use it all the time!
I also dis some tweaking in other areas of our home. I thought I would share those as well.
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend! I did not sell anything at the flea market. People here do not buy crafts! I think I do a good job on my boxes and my sewing items. However it was biker weekend here in Myrtle Beach. Its hard to buy stuff and take it home on a bike. LOL. Also people were buying more practical items. Our flea market here is not about antiques or crafts. It is more of a place to sell over stock stuff, like perfume, tooth paste and toiletries.

I made this valance for my sun room. The fabric was a shower curtain, I found for 4.00 at the yard sale. The trim cost me more than the fabric. LOL. I have not decided if I like them yet or not. But I like them better than the scarf I had up there. I will more likely change it out again in the future when I can find some more fabric I like more.

Tweaking

I changed the lamp shades on the lamps in the sunroom and the one on the credena in the family room.They use to be white, I changed them to the
coffee, bronzey colored ones!

Craft Room Studio ( Excuse the mess, I wish I could tell you it is going to look better, but it probably will not) LOL

My hubby bought me this crafing cart. I use it to set my embroidery machine ( Huskavarna Rose). My machine is out dated but it works like a charm. I can put the machine under the cart and close the cart up to make it look neater. But I use it all the time, so I don't see the point.
The shelf over top also holds hat boxes with crafting stuff, laces,etc.
If you notice I sat the little white shelf I bought at yard sale last weekend on the cart. I put my smaller spools of thread in it. I use a little white milk glass bowl to hold my machine brush and little screw driver.

These little white cabinets store all my crafting supplies, beads, glues, scrap booking scissors etc. One on them stores some of my embroidery thread. If you notice the clear canisters on top, I bought those at a yard sale for five dollars.
Also the shelf over top the cabinets hold my hat boxes and other boxes of craft junk.

This table is where I do my general sewing. Also I alter my boxes on this, I cover it with foam board to protect my cutting matt. I also cut out my fabric pieces on this table.

Two messy book shelves. The one on the right actually does have some books on it! Along with my other crafting junk. The porcelain doll is a gift from my son many years ago. The lamp is a Christmas gift from hubby's daughter.

Piggy bank collection!

This is my computer desk and chair. I use this computer to down load my embroirdy designs. If you notice you will see my piggy bank collection on the top of the desk! I know silly eh?

My daughter Melissa gave me this picture for my craft room as a Christmas gift! At that time I did not have a studio.

Up Stairs Bathroom

I thought I would share my girl cave bathroom that is upstairs. This photo is taken from standing outside the door. The bathroom is really small!

My hubby put up this little white shelf for me. I love the little gingerbread effect slats. I plan to do some tweaking to the top of the shelf. Right now I have two perfume bottles my grand-children's mother brought me from Japan. My son and her were just married. The little green bottle is from Avon, I have had it many years. The little Victorian lady thingie is a yard sale find!

I found these pink embroidered towels at a yard sale for 1.00 for all three pieces. They were brand new, never used!

Some of you may remember, when I first started blogging,I made this pink heart!

I found this shabby chic cone thingy at a yard sale for fifty cents. I put a couple of towels in it instead of plants or florals!

I love the rose covered shower curtain! I added some blue bling at the top for interest!

Yard Sale Haul and Projects

Good Evening Bloggers!! It is 11:20 pm as I am posting. I have to work tomorrow! I need to be in bed! I did get a lot done this weekend! I cleaned and organized my pantry and cleaned the refrigerator out! I have made up my mind to set goals for the weekend to do at least two extra cleaning projects in my home besides the normal cleaning every weekend.
I also try to craft and hour or two both Saturday and Sunday!! I wish I could retire! But now is not the time. sigh

I wanted to share a few yard sale finds and a couple of projects I completed this weekend.

This little shelf was 1.00. I don't know where I will use this, it will most likely be in my craft room.

I got both of these pictures for three dollars! I most definitely will paint the frames. I know everyone will think I should paint the frames white! But I would really like them to match my cherry furniture! What do you suggest?

I tweaked this corner of my kitchen!! I thought both these plant boxes would look pretty red! Since I have alot of red in my kitchen. They both fit perfectly on the stands I placed them on!!

We already had this window box! We had flowers in it last year. I spray painted it red and sat it on the little cart. I won the cart at Bingo one night a few years ago! I thought about painting the tile on the bottom red as well. It is blue and white and says Poland! What do you think about painting it red as well!!
I may do an arrangement of greenery in this with a few silks. Any ideas on what to do??

I bought this plant container at yard sale for a dollar! It was silver, so I painted it red and sat it on top of my little bakers rack thingie! It has dragon flies embossed in the metal!

Good Evening Blogger Friends! I spent this entire day crafting. It was a state holiday for us here in South Carolina. Confederates Memorial Day. So I did some embroidery work on the quilt I am making, and then I started altering boxes. Yep! I am at it again!
I plan to take some stuff to the flea market to sell. I know these boxes are not fine art, but maybe someone would want them for the right price.I have some pillows I have made and some household items to sell.
I thought I would give it a try. So take a look!
Again I forgot to clean up the glue before I photographed them, so just ignore the glue. I promise they will cleaned up before I take them to sell. Hope you enjoy!!

This is one of my favorite altered boxes. I think it looks so springy! I painted it a spring green, added the roses to the top and under the top as well! I put some ribbon lace around the sides! I also made the little pink heart inside the box!

The top of the little green box! I added some pink and cream roses!! I used fabric roses instead of the dried roses.

A crafty little wooden heart. I covered it with left over paper and lace. I added the three white roses I bought out of the wedding section at Michaels. I plan to change out the pearls. They are too big for my taste.

I used wall paper border to cover this little box. I gave it a aged look by using distressing ink for scrap booking. I had the little roses on hand and the trim. I just added some tulle for an added touch.

The sides of the little round box. I added string seed pearls around the top sides of the box.

The inside of the box. The little rose was already attached to the leaves and the bow was attached to the rose as well. It came off a gift someone gave me.

I really like how the top of this box looks! The little cherub is off a broken plaque! I never throw any thing away I might be able to use another way! The cream roses I had on hand! I tied a strip of old lace in a bow and attached to the box.

I added lace around the sides of the box on the bottom. On top I put purple cording around the top of the box.

This is the inside of the top of the box! I added the little ivory roses to carry the theme through to the inside of the box.

I lined the bottom of the box with the same shelf paper! I added the little purple roses around the edges.

Happy Mothers Day!! I thought I would share Saturday's yard sale finds! All the items listed below I purchased for 2.00 at one sale. All of them were brand new with the exception of the little Christmas birdhouse.

The reason I like to tell how much I paid for everything is see how fun thrifting can be. Besides, I fully believe in keeping things out of the land fills. So if I can get things I would use for less, I think that is a good thing!

NOT ANOTHER CIGAR BOX!!

Good Evening Bloggers!! Hope your week is going well! Okay, I know you all are saying this woman is obsessed with altering cigar boxes. I think you are right! I discovered that I am enjoying altering boxes almost as much as I enjoy sewing and embroidery.
This type of crafting relaxes me after a hard day at work.
Anyway I thought I would share with you yet another box. Please don't throw tomatoes at me, for the same show different day. LOL.

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE IGNORE THE FACT I FORGOT TO CLEAN OFF THE GLUE STRINGS BEFORE I PHOTOGRAPHED THE BOX. LORDY IF I HAD A BRAIN I WOULD BE DANGEROUS!!

The paint I used on this box is called Linen by Folk Art. I painted the entire box before I added any other decorations. I had a thin wooden heart I bought at a yard sale and I MODGED PODGED the paper I bought at AC Moore to the heart. The paper was a crisp white, so I decided to delicately swipe my paint brush across the paper to give it an aged effect!.
The rose came from a Christmas gift, so I re purposed it as a accent to this box. The butterfly came from Michael's I bought it several weeks ago. The ribbon I had in my ribbon stash. I bought the little shiny leaves at AC Moore on clearance for a 1.00. I have several left over for future projects!

This is the inside top of the box! I had some butterflies left over from my Michaels trip I made a few weeks back!! I am really trying to use up from stash of things I have on hand vs buying any thing new. I did buy the paint I used on this box and the paper was on sale at AC Moore. I paid I think about 85 cents each for two sheets. But the rest of decorations I had on hand.

This is the bottom inside of the box! I continued the brassy button effect in each corner here to continue the effect.

New Project and Yard Sale Finds!

Good Evening bloggers!! I will make my introduction very short. Today I want to share with you my latest project. I also want to share the goodies I found at yard sales today! Hope you enjoy viewing my photographs!

SHABBY CIGAR BOX!

I decided to alter this box in a Shabby Chic fashion, because of the paper that was inside the box already. It was perfect for shabby chic. First I painted the box white with crafters glue and let it dry. Then I hot glued the daisy trim all around the paper to frame the box. Next I pulled random roses and some heart shaped beads from my stash and started hot gluing them on the paper. The pretty blue teapot and coffee cup came from a note card. I bought a whole set at TJ Maxx for 2.00. I think it made the perfect center piece for my shabby box.
I added pink lace with string pearls glued on to the lace.
I am really getting some practice in altering these boxes! Mine are not as put together nicely as some of the ones I have seen on you tube videos!! I am still working with what I already have vs buying more stuff!

The inside of the box! I covered the bottom with paper I found in the cigar box. I opened the box up to look inside before I stared altering and to my surprise it had the original paper that they wrapped the cigars. It was so pretty, I decided to use it as my base paper. I also used the paper on the top of the box as well.

I was going to cover the inside of the lid with paper, however I decided I like the photo there and decided to not cover it up. I did put some pink lace at the bottom and glued string pearls to the lace. I bought the glitter flower at Michale's . I had used one these flowers on a previous project. I put two little rosebuds in the corners of the lid.

I added some of the paper to the sides of the box!

YARD SALE FINDS!

This was my favorite find today!! I love anything with Roses and I am really trying to develop a collection of blue roses!! This platter was 2.50. I fell in love with it when I saw it. It was made in England, but is not a vintage piece.

I can see these two red hearts on my Christmas tree this year! I paid 50 cents each.

I thought this little gold clutch was so cute for 25 cents! I may do something crafty with it, I don't know!

I know Easter is over, but I could not pass these brand new never out of the package bunnies up! They were a 1.00 each!

How I spent Easter Afternoon!

Happy Easter Bloggers! It turned out to be a beautiful hot day here in Myrtle Beach! The sun was out and the world seemed right!
I thought I would share with you how I spent my Sunday afternoon!! Some you may think it was an odd way to spend Easter, however it was just my hubby and I. He spent the afternoon watching golf and I crafted.
Whenever I am out a yard sale and see cigar boxes, I always buy them. I have about 10 boxes in my collection. I just bought four more on Saturday.
I have been watching crafting videos on you tube. So I came across a video on altering cigar boxes. So I decided to give it a try.
I did not buy anything extra. I used what I had in my stash already.
First I used folk art green craft paint to paint the inside of the box and the edges. I bought this paint at a yard sale a year or so ago.
Then I used some drawer liner in a paisly print (also a yard sale find) and modged podged to the top and sides and the inner lid of the box.
Then I gathered bits and pieces of things to decorate the box. The large rose and leaves are off an old wreath that I took apart. I discarded the wreath and kept the flowers. The lace under the flower I made using my embroidery machine. I had made the lace to use around a table runner. So the piece I used , as well as the piece on inside of the lid was extras from the table runner project. I just utilized them for this box. I also had the cream colored trim on hand as well, I don't remember when I got it or where.
The bling on the box, the rhinestones I took out of an old costume jewerly bracelet. It had several of the rhinestones missing. So I took out the rest and used them on this box. I can use the metal part of the bracelet in another project by hot gluing some pearls in the slots were the rhinestones where.
So anyway, this is my first try at an altered box. I plan to try this again with my other cigar boxes.

This is the front side of the box. The gold piece is a button I bought at Michaels many moons ago. I used wire cutters to take the eye of the button so it would lay flat. I hot glued it to the box.

Good Evening Bloggers!! Am I a lucky bird or what!! I came home from work and when I started to sit down in my favorite chair I could not! There was a very large package on the seat that my hubby placed there. It was a package from one of the sweetest bloggers in blogland! Diane @ My Thrifty Groove!!

I wanted to share last weekends yard sale finds with you. The pickings have been slim at yard sales lately! Or I am just being more selective in what I buy. I bought these three items all for 3.00 dollars! This was the extent of my yard sale purchases this past weekend.

I have been looking for an ice bucket for a long time. I finally found one that I really liked! I love the old world look of this. It fits into my decor really well.

I do not know what attracted me to this little box, the colors or the train. But I really fell in love with its old world look!

I fell in love with this little wire candle holder. Not so much the color of it, I plan to paint it red, white or black, which do you think would look best?

This has been a long week for me. I have been fighting bronchitis and been on breathing treatments three times a day. I still had to work all week. Today was a night mare at work. But tomorrow is Friday! One more day and then the weekend!!

I thought I would share some of my stuff. I have found this stuff in many different places, yard sales, Goodwill, my own projects and a gift from my son!! Hope you enjoy looking at it all.

I could not believe it when I saw these two red boxes with red gingham tops at a yard sale last week. They were each a dollar. I buy these boxes anytime I see them because I store alot of my fabric and other craft supplies in them.

I tried my hand at mod podging! This rather large heart had the old style geese design!! I decided to give it an update. I have been seeing music sheets all over blogland in crafting. So I thought I would give it a whirl. I kinda like it. Its hanging in the toilet area of my master bathroom. I told my husband he could make sweet music!! LOL

These napkins were brand new in the package. When I found them I thought they were paper or plastic. I paid 50 cents for them. When I unwrapped them when I got home I found they are linens! They match my kitchen so perfectly!! There are 6 of these.

I bought this little apron at Ross's. I thought I could use it as a pattern to make more aprons that I can sell at the Flea Market or maybe even on line.

The two pillows below are yard sale finds. Each were a dollar! These came from an immaculate home. I don't like to buy pillows from just any yard sale. I also took added precautions. My new washer and dryer that we bought for this house has a steamer/sanitizer. So the first thing I did was run both pillows on the full cycle to clean and sanitize them!

My son made me this little cradle in shop class years ago!! He was in high school. He is 39 years old now! The bunnie is a 25 cent yard sale find! I made the little white pillow with the buttons that is sitting beside bunny.

This small afghan is a Goodwill Find! The colors match my house perfectly.

When I went to my Social Work conference about a month ago. I ate at the Cracker Barr ell. Of course you always have to shop in the general store! So I found this cute little oval bunnie plate. Its the only Easter decoration I have inside the house. This and the wreath on the door will be all I will be doing for Easter.

Good Evening blogger friends. It is time for me to give away some of God's blessings to me! I have one simple rule for this give away. Post a comment on this blog!! Thats all! Good Evening Bloggers! This weekend sure flew by, I can't believe its Monday already!! Hope all is well with my blogging friends.
I found this purple Christmas wreath this weekend at a yard sale for a 1.00. I had seen some purple mesh Easter decorations in a store that cost 55.00 for the egg shaped wreath with one or two silk flowers on it. The purple mesh was more a lilac color.
But I thought I could do some spring wreath with this find. So I am asking my friends. Does this look tacky??

Master Bedroom!!

Good Evening Bloggers!! I took the day off today and did some shopping and tweaking to our Master Bedroom!! I thought I would share it with you guys this evening.
As you already know I buy a lot of my decorative items from yard sales. I have very few pieces of furniture from Yard Sales.
My husband and I love Cherry Wood Furniture. When we purchase our furniture it is a good quality furniture. So you see , I am not cheap or I mean thrifty in all areas of my home.
I hope you enjoy and I welcome any advise or suggestions for decorating. As I have said before I am not a decorator , I am a mental health therapist. LOL
Please ignore my ugly CPAP Machine in the floor by our bed.. Unfortunately I have to sleep with the mask due to my sleep apnea!!

This is the view you see when you first enter our Master Bedroom. The little steppie things were a five dollar yard sale find!!P

Full front view of the bed. I made the monogram pillow on the bed. The quilt set came from K-Marts Country Living style. I love the ruffles and lace that is all in and around the quilt. The colors I fell in love with and was the reason I bought the quilt.

This the vignette sitting in the middle of the dresser. I purchased the glass cloche thingie at Kirklands today. I had the shredded nestie stuff already. I also had the little bird on hand as well.
The little silver brush and comb( I don't think it is real silver). I found at a yard sale.

This little lamp sits on the left side of our dresser. I purchased it today at Kirklands. I am actually thinking about going back to Kirklands tomorrow to get another one. I would sit it on the opposite end and removed the vase of faux flowers!
The little gold purse is a Goodwill find.

This is the chest in our Master Bedroom. As you can see the black box is sitting atop of the chest. It is in our plans to hang the black box on the wall and put the chest in the walk in closet.

This is the right side night stand. I hope to either get rid of this lamp entirely or at least get a new shade. The lamp was a brassy gold and I spray painted it to match the other lamp on the left night stand. It was part of my husbands bachelor furniture -Junk uh I mean stuff.
The Little girl is part of a set. If you notice the box behind the lamp is filled with my vintage hankie collection.

The table my husband and I bought when we first moved to South Carolina! I found the chair at a yard sale for 5.00. I plan to have it made over. I am afraid to tackle the re upholstery my self. I also plan to do something different with these plain cream colored sheers. I may make a valance. Or just replace them all together. I purchased them at Target.
The cherry lamp on this table is a Good Will find. I found its globe shade at a yard sale for 50 cents. I bought the little bird today at Kirklands! The ivory vase is a Lenox piece. I have several Lenox's pieces I have found at yard sales. The flowers were a good will find!

This lamp I hope either sees a new shade soon or I get rid of the entire lamp and replace it with another one!! It was a yard sale find. The little rose box was a yard sale find as well. The little boy statue is part of a set that I have had for years. I do not know where or when I purchased it. The little girl part of the set is on the other night stand.

This is the vignette on right end of our dresser. I found this vase at a yard sale. There is another one just like it stored away. I bought the flowers at Ole Time Pottery! I bought the frame at Kirklands today! It was on clearance for 3.98! I just loved the sparkel and color of the frame

These two french doors are the entry way to the Master Bath. I am not quite ready to show you that room as of yet. There is alot of tweaking to do in there!! I made the little door pillow hanging on the door knob

I absolutely love these two plaques!! I found these a couple of years ago at a yard sale. I ended up paying 1.oo for both of these plaques.

Good Evening Bloggers! This weekend has been way too short!! I stayed so busy, I don't know where the time went. I did accomplish alot however I did not get my master bedroom and bath tweaked enough to post.
I did go to a few yard sales this weekend. I thought I would post my finds for you guys tonight~~
Yard sale season is full swing now, even though here in Myrtle Beach there are yard sales year round!! Hope you enjoy my finds!

I ended up with three of the hand painted chargers. I won't use them as charges. The rooster and hen one I will display in my kitchen along with the rest of my flock. I paid 3.00 for the set!

I think this one is my favorite of the three~ I like the way the rooster is painted!

I don't know where I will use this hand painted charger~ but I love the pastel florals.

Of course you guys know why I had to have this, who could turn down a towel with a rooster. It is packaged so pretty with cellophane and black and white polka dotted bow. It was a dollar.

I fell in love with this cross because of the creamy ivory roses. I think it is someone's wedding cross because it has two silver rings with rhinestones. I paid a dollar.

This isn't real gold, however I really liked it because the leaf looked so lacy. I like the look of lace on anything. I paid a 1.00 for it.

Good evening bloggers!! This has been a long week, and I am really tired. I love to blog because it takes the stress of working away. I can enjoy the company of good friends, and see how they decorate their beautiful homes!!
The photos I am sharing with you are of my Powder Room and guest bathroom. They are both works in progress. How do you get small bathrooms look chic anyhow? I don't have a clue!! LOL
I guess by now you friends have noticed I am an avid thrifter! I just can't see paying full price for things that are just as pretty I can find at yard sales and discount stores etc.
These photos are not the most interesting, but I wanted to share parts of the house I haven't shared yet. I hope to post pics of the master bedroom and bathroom this weekend. I just got to do some tweaking first. So thank you all for stopping by. I really enjoy your comments and ideas.

Powder Room!

This is best I could do getting a full view of the powder room!! So I will post it in parts. Its a tiny room with just a toilet and sink. The rose print I bought at a yard sale for 1.00. The hand towels I have had for years! I don't remember where I bought those.

I love that the builder put a oval mirror in this room! I wish it had a frame around it though. The soap dispenser was a Ross find!

This little rose rug was a Christmas gift from my hubbies daughter!

I bought this basket at a yard sale. I thought I would put it in the powder room for magazines.

Guest Bathroom!

This is the guest bathroom. It is very small! I just gathered things I already had to use as decorations. I bought the lace shower curtain on line, but I think it was Linen Source or something like that.

I love this little shelf. The little wicker doll and the fan are yard sale finds. I have had the blue pitcher and bowl for years. It is a avon bottle!

The little ginger jar and the round ceramic box that matches it, are both yard sale finds.

Good Afternoon Friends!! It turned cold here overnight in South Carolina. The sun is shining though so it is a beautiful day.
I am posting some more pictures of the house. You are proably bored by now at my attempt of decorating.

The guest bedroom!!

For some reason I did not get a full shot of the bedroom. But I think by the photos I did post you will get the jest of the style of the bedroom. I love the pale colors and spring like feeling it projects!

These little pale blue and white figurines, I have collected over the years at yard sales. They are depictions of family life. I just love them.

I just love this little bunny. I have her sitting on a little ivory heart stool. I found both at yard sales.

I love the green frame on this Rose print. Of course I bought this at a yard sale as well.

This rose print is another yard sale find! It hangs over the little white heart table.

My hubby bought this picture for me right before we were married. It has a pine frame and matches the other pine furniture in that room. Also I do not have a headboard for that bed, so the big picture kind of functions as a head board. A real head board is on my list of things to get or look for at Yard Sales.

This is a close up of the guest room bedding. All the little pillows I had for several years now, I don't remember where I got them. The comforter is a Jacqueline Smith from K-Mart. I am getting impressed with the quality of K-Marts home section.

This is the only window the room has. I bought the ivory drapes at Target. I made the Valance.

This little pine night stand matches the dresser. The lamp is a Good Will find. All the rest of the stuff are yard sale finds!

I love this little shabby chic cabinet. I bought it at Ole Time Pottery! The lamp on top is a Goodwill Find. Of course I had my little yard sale pink doll and the sheep bank.

You have seen me in the past post this pine dresser I have had in the guest room. I did change the decorations on the top.

This little country heart table I have had for years. I know the country heart thing is out of date,but I still like mine! The Roses I bought at Ole Time Pottery. The vase they are in came from a mothers day flower bouquet sent to me by daughter. Of course I had to keep my little sheep. I think it is so cute.

My china hutch. My country rose china is in the bottom. I got most of my crystal suff and odd and end china in the hutch part!

This bronzie like plate holder thingie I found at a yard sale. I paid a dollar for it. The plate is a mother's plate that was given to me by my children years ago. It matches my Old Country Rose Chine,by Royal Albert or Dalton, I am not sure which,LOL.

The picture on this wall I bought at Big Lots. The lamp is a left over from my husbands house before we were married.

I bought this clock at Ross's. I really like how it looks!

Good Evening blogger friends! I promised you pictures of our kitchen. Well here they are, lots and lots. LOL. Hope everyone is doing well, and like me plan to relax and have a good weekend!!
I welcome all your decorating ideas! I am not a decorator. I am a mental health therapist! LOL But I give it my best shot!!

This is the view of our kitchen from the dining room. I love the kitchen. There are some things we will change down the road. But for now it is good!!

The kitchen Nook!! I chose just plain red gingham valances for the windows. We also have blinds up as well. Angie at Free Spirit Haven is gonna love them!! She is a redkin like me. I had ordered the valances and they came in while I was gone to the conference. When I got home, my hubby had them up already. Isn't he the sweetie!

! We use this alot. The other one in our other house was too small and crowded us. We never felt comfortable and always ate off tv trays. We have a dining room too. Hopefully I will post the picture of that room tomorrow.

I embroidered these placemats. I found them at the dollar tree. I can leave no linen just plain. I think it is a sickness. I really do! LOL

I have had this rose print for years!! I just love it! Also the little bakers rack thingie that I think is suppose to go in a bathroom, I paid 5.00 for at a yard sale. Oh well its a kitchen thingie now.

Some of you may remember when I posted about this little red cabinet. I bought it at a yard sale for 4.00. I thought about painting it, but I was so glad I didn't. I think it goes perfectly with all the reds in my kitchen!

I had to put this extra cabinet here so I could store dishes that I don't use everyday. Its just a cheap cabinet, I hope to replace it someday with a cute kitchen hutch.

I stored alot of my extra dishes in this extra cabinet. I use to store my fabric in this cabinet at the old house. But decided to use it for extra storage for dishes.

I displayed some of my Milk Glass pieces on top of the extra cabinet!

You can see how I stored some of my teacups in this little red cabinet.

We had just bought this refrigerator before we sold our last house. So as of now our appliances do not match. We hope to change the stove someday.

This was my attempt at taking a photo of the trays on top of my little ledge! I intend to put something else up there, when I figure out a good idea!

These white canisters were my husbands before we married. I loved them, so I let him keep them! LOL

Another corner of counter top!! I use the Red Wine thingy to store my spaghetti!

I bought these two little kitchen towels at K-Mart. Geez Louise you would think I could hang them straight.

The top of the stove with the little rooster salt and pepper shakers. The little red trivet they are sitting on also has a rooster as a design.

Of Course with both of us being coffee drinkers, we had to have a coffee station. The Keurig is a Christmas present from my daughter!!

The hubby just installed these faucets today!! The others we had were really cheap looking. I like the look of these because of the burnt bronze look. I think it looks ole timey for some reason!!

The little red box on the counter top I found at yard sale for fifty cents. And there are my paper towels in all their glory!!

Good Afternoon Bloggers! I just got back from my conference. It was a long three days!! Actually 4 days. But I was able to network with some Social Workers, had alot of good meals, and met some new friends!
Please pray for my Grandchildren, they are in Okinawa Japan. I am not sure how much the nuclear reactors will affect them, but it worries me!
They were not injured with the earthquake, my their mother at least emailed me about that.
Well I hope to post some pictures later tonight. If I do not it may be the weekend since I have to return to work tommorrow!!

Good Evening blogger friends! I would like to share the loft area that is upstairs of our house. This weekend I hope to be able to post the family room. I will be leaving Sunday for Columbia for about four days. I will be attending a social work conference there, so I won't have much time to post this weekend. Or enough time to work on the house.
They delivered our new chair and entertainment center today. I want to touch it up some more before I post about this weekend.
I hope you enjoy the photos of my girly room!!

This is the loft area upstairs. It is between the fourth bedroom which I use as my craft room and the unfinished bonus room. This is the only room that will truly be shabby chic. I call it my mom cave or my girly room. Actually it will probably be redone some day and put real furniture up here. Probably when we finish the bonus room. For the most part our house is a traditional style. it is feminine enough I could live with , yet not too girly for my hubbys comfort!

This is the whole front view of my little white chicken wire cabinet. I found it at a yard sale as well. It was an ugly green. You may remember the before pictures I posted. I stored all my yard sale find pink rose dishes in the bottom. A girl can never have enough pink roses , ya know.

I don't know if you all remember the post about this Johnson's Brother vase I bought at the blessings sale. But any how this is how I displayed it. I bought all the Roses at Ole Time Pottery. The plate was a yard sale find.

This is the right side of the white cabinet. I found the shabby white candle holder at a yard sale. Well really most of this stuff, with exception of the little pink roses (Ole Time Pottery) was yard sale finds.

This little plant stand thingie I purchase at TJ MAX. It has a rose mosaic pattern. I thought it looked so shabbily dainty.

I made the little heart on this wall. I have posted it before. It was in the guest room of our previous house.

This corner I placed the little ice cream chair I found at Good Will. I recovered the seat and back and painted it white. The door to the right is a small door which leads to one of the storage areas. The door to the right is the bathroom. I am still working on the bathroom and my craft room.

The wicker sofa is setting up against the half wall,behind which is the stairs. I did a little fluffing to the cushion of the love seat. I put two extra pillows to make it softer. Also the seat cushion is a twin bedspread. I just tucked all the extra fabric under the seats!

Setting on the table is a little candelabra I found at Good Will. It has one of its candle sticks broken off, but I just keep that part turned to the back. Also on the table is the other little heart I was given as a surprise by Celestina Marie. I thought this room was the perfect place to display her little pieces.

This is two rose plates I found at yard sales. Also if you look closely you will see Celestina Marie's little heart I won from her give away. It is hanging on the wall.It is just so pretty!!

This chair I bought at Lowe's when we first moved to South Carolina! It has a matching rocker that is in the storage room. The rocker was just too big to be in the room. The blanket on the back of the chair is a good will find. The rose picture was a yard sale find!!

I just love the wreath on the door! It has roses and hydrangeas. My two favorite flowers.

Corners of our New Home~

Good Evening Blogger friends!! I finally have some photos of corner of our new home. The sun room is generally put together. I hope to tweak it some in the future, but for now it will have to do.
Also I thought I would share photos of our fire place mantel and the credenza that sets behind the sofa in the family room.

I hope this finds everyone well! Tomorrow I will share the upstairs loft area, which I call my girlie room! Once you see it you will understand why!
So hope you all enjoy. I welcome ideas. Especially for window treatments in the sun room!

This is the view of the sun room as you enter it from the family room! The window treatments are temporary until I can find some I like. My hubbie installed some cheap blinds. Those are going to be replace with cellular blinds in the future. The sun room is my favorite room in the house. I can set on the love seat and look out to some beautiful oak trees. Also we have a pet cemetery directly behind us, so we don't have to worry about anyone building behind us in the near future.

This is my love seat that matches my sofa. I thought it would look nice in the sun room. Also it carried the look from the living room into the sun room.

This is the right corner across the room from the love seat. The chair I brought from Ky with me, I had it reupholstered several years ago. It needs a new update. I also found the lamp to right of the chair at a yard sale. It was just the base, for 50cents. I bought the lamp parts and shade and my hubbie put it together for me. I also found the picture with the Victorian couple at a yard sale. I paid way too much for it, but I loved it. The old timey looking radio we won at a Union meeting for retirees. My husband retired from GMC. I don't really like the table the radio is setting on , but it will have to due for now.

This white lamp is sitting on band box to give it some height! The chest is yard sale find for 5.oo. It was in terrible shape but my hubbie done some work and it is presentable. It sets on the left side of the love seat.

This photo of the Credenza that is sitting behind our sofa in the family room! Again I will show you the whole family room soon, we are having some furniture delivered tomorrow to bring it all together.
The Credenza was in bad shape, so my husband painted it this cherry colored paint. He did a nice job, I think. The piece belonged to his mother so it is pretty old.

This is the top of the Credenza in our living room! My favorites of this vignette is the ivory roses and the rose picture!

My fireplace top part. I will show it all when I show the family room in its entirety. The picture above the mantle is one of my hubbies! I love the father and the little boy fishing. However I am going to have it framed differently. I would love to have a nice chunky cherry wood frame!!

This is my fire place mantle! Tell me if you think I should do something different with it. I love the cream hydrangea, my rose plates and all the little birdies. Does this all look tacky??

Good Evening Friends!
No, I am not posting pictures of the house!! I have still way too much too do before the house is presentable! I am looking at boxes and more boxes to unpack!! I will show each room as I finish it! However right now, all the rooms have parts of it put together. I still have art work to hang,and lots of other decorating to do!!

This is the little heart that was item for her generous give away. Celeste included alot of sweet surprises. I just love the pink rose, the tulle and lace, and especially the added bling!

I just love this sweet little heart box, isn't it beautiful!! Celeste makes the most beautiful items!! I have tried to paint roses before, I couldn't even come close to making it look like a rose.
And the little box was filled with chocolate, and I do love chocolate.

Look at this beautiful Valentines card Celeste sent with my package! Is it not the sweetest card ever! She wrote a beautiful note to me inside, but I like to keep my personal notes private!

Moving, No Time To Blog~

Good Afternoon Bloggers!

This will be my last post for a week or so. I don't know when we will have internet again. We are moving tomorrow and I will be busy all week, having fun decorating. I will take lots of pictures to share with my friends!! Our Closing was delayed until tomorrow. So that threw us a day late getting moved. But I still have plenty to do packing our stuff in the Condo. I cannot believe how much we have accumulated here since we moved in, a few short months ago!!
