Good Evening Bloggers!! Finally some progress we can see on building the house. This past month has been waiting on permits and getting all the paperwork done. I wanted to share the pictures of the work done on the lot thus far. The next thing they will put in the plumbing. Here at least , I don't know how they build in other states, they put the plumbing under the cement foundation.
I am so excited!! I can't wait to see the walls going up. We meet with the builders next week.
I also was able to hit a few yardsales last weekend. I went in hunt of books to read. But I stumbled upon these two gorgeous finds I could not pass up!! So please bear with me on what may be boring pictures to you on the house. Scroll on down and see my latest finds!!
I bought this little crochet apron for fifty cents. Is not the most adorable little apron you have ever seen.
This little sweet grass basket was something I could not resist. It was just 5.00 dollars. For those of you that don't know , a sweet grass basket the size of a fifty cent piece can sell for 25.00. This one is much larger.
Also for those of you that don't know about these baskets, they are huge part of the South Carolina culture!
What an exciting time for you Susan. I'm so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteThat apron is adorable, BUT the sweetgrass basket is amazing. I would love to have one, but they are much too expensive for my blood. What a great find!
Happy Saturday! La
I love your apron....that was a real find!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the home building. May you not have too many delays or headaches from it. We built our house over 10 years ago, so I know what you're going through. Lots of excitement and plans. However, after that, my family half jokes if we ever have another house, it will be a pre built one. Cause you know even with planning, bad stuff pops up here and there. I hope it's not too bad for you!
Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your blog visit. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Cathy
Hi Susan! It's so nice to meet you. How exciting knowing your building a new home. What great things you found - that little apron is adorable and someone really did spend some time in crocheting it.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Thanks for stopping by. That's very exciting about your house progress. And I always love a good yard sale find.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, building a new home, keep us posted won't you!
ReplyDeleteLove your yard sale finds, that apron is just precious!!!
I completely understand your excitement.
ReplyDeleteI know how excited we were when our house was "going up"....but we did not live in the same State..and had to fly down to watch the progress....and we missed a few important things...in between visits....like makeing SURE the foundation was completely "sound".... we came to find out later that some of the cement corners were not formed properly....and they "pasted" some cement onto the corners later...to cover up their mistakes...and chuncks of them...had since fallen off...which made us have to have some repairs done...and pay extra for FOUNDATION INSURANCE.
I learned to hate our builder when all was said and done...but we LOVE the style of this home. Just love it.
Otherwise we would have bailed out on them...so if anyone is using a builder by the name of ASHTON WOODS...beware !
Check on your homes progress OFTEN, it will pay in the long run.
You will not belive the "shortcuts" they try to "get away with"...during the building process.

How absolutely exciting to see the progress coming along. What finds!! WOW.
ReplyDeleteA sweetgrass basket?! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you and the new house!
I was so excited when we had our homes built, too!
Keep an eye on the builders--make sure they fix things that need it now...it's hard to get them done right after the house is done--my advice (as if you asked, LOL!)
Blessings to you as you (literally) make your home!
