New Pics of the Grands/Yard sale finds!

Good Evening my friends.
I thought I would post my new pics of the grands and my weekend yard sale finds! I can't believe Emily has her hair cut short. She had such gorgeous long hair. She is a beautiful little girl.
Mr. Anthony is as handsome as ever! Gosh I miss them so much!!
Hope everyone has a good rest of the week!!

YARD SALE FINDS!!

I paid 3.o0 each for these two beaded purses. They look vintage to me. I have a passion for beaded purses, or just interesting purses. Someday I will post my collection of purses.

I love that this rose candle holder is done in cream instead of pink. It will fit nicely into a table scape, or just sitting on my coffee table. I don't have any pink in my family or dining rooms. Its mostly creams, and browns. This was 50 cents

This is an Avon bottle. It was 25 cents. As you know I love cut glass.

These two bottles were a quarter each. They will be altered. I always look for things I can alter,

This little spring bucket was 25 cents. I may use it in a spring decoration somehow. But after spring its probably going to get a makeover for my craft room.

Yard Sale Finds!

Good Evening my friends in blog land. This is just a quick post this evening, as I am beat from working all day. As you know my goal this year is to purge and use up. I have very good at not bringing as much back in as I take out of the house. I spent a whole dollar this weekend at the yard sales. Below are my two purchases. Hope you enjoy and I am requesting ideas on how to display the bird house.

Isn't this little lady gorgeous! I love the roses in her dress. She was fifty cents! I just had to have her, she was just too pretty to pass by.

I really love this little birdhouse! I paid fifty cents for it at a yard sale this weekend. I need help from you lovelies out there. Please tell me how to display this, do I add greenery, or what?? Also what would you display with it. I am thinking I am displaying it in my Master Bedroom since it has a country theme.

Projects and Yard Sale finds.

Good Evening Blogger Friends. I have been busy!
I wanted to share with you some projects I did over the weekend. Also I have a few yard sale finds as well!
Those that know me, know I waste nothing that can be used for another purpose. Some call me cheap, some call me thrifty, some ask if I ever throw anything away. My answer to them is the more things that can be used in a creative way, the better off our planet.
Those jars, paper tags etc do not end up in a land fill somewhere.
What I can't use and is still useful, I take to Goodwill or give to someone else.
I do buy new things, but I also shop yard sales and thrift stores. But mostly I just have fun!! Hope you enjoy!

Projects!!

I did some shopping this weekend at the Ole Time Pottery. I found some curtains that the panels and the valances were attached. They were five dollars a pair. I have been wanting new valances for my sun room windows. I did not want to put drapes all the way to the floor. We like the windows open to let in the sun light. We can sit in there and watch the birds that come to the bird feeder outside.
What I did was cut the most part of the panels off. I left some of the panel the length of the valances. I then sewed the both seams of the valance and what is left of the panels. The panel made a liner for the valances and it gave it more of a designer look. I will use the fabric that is left over from the panels and make a table runner or some pillows. I try to not let anything go to waste.

I had an extra pair of curtains left after I made the valances. I decided to make a slip cover for my little stool.I have had this stool for over 10 years. It's a cheaply made one. I found it at Garden Ridge in Lexington Ky.

This box I bought at a Yard sale several months back. The background color of the box is original to the box. I just decided to embellish the top. The flowers, some were from Michael's I bought over time for different projects. There are some just regular flowers also that I had in my stash. It has a dark ecru heart doily underneath some of the embellishment. I don't remember where I got it, but I have had for a long time. The ribbon I found as an after Christmas sale at Michael's in January. I loved the color of the ribbon.

This is the inside of the box. As you can see I made a matching tag and placed it inside the box. The box is lined with srapbooking paper and ribbon. On the inside top of the box, I put some yellow dew drop roses and a Ashley butterfly from Micheal's.

I used two garment tags to make these tags. I use scrap booking paper that I had left from another project. The flowers, beads etc: came from my stash. I don't have a clue what I am going to do with all these tags. I have at least twenty or thirty different ones that I have made, just to create something.

Yard Sale Finds!

All of the fabric below I paid a dollar for each piece.

There are two huge pieces of this yellow fabric. I can see this being used in someway this Easter.

Check out the black polka dotted fabric. This piece will find its way as the cover of a piece of foam cushion. It will look nice on my bench in the entry way hall.
I have found my self drawn to the colors in this fabric in the middle. Our master bedroom is done in these colors, in a country Victorian kind of way.
I don't know what I will do with the cream fabric. I am sure I will find a use for it a sewing project of some sort.

I love clear cut glass. I found all three of these pieces at a yard sale this week end. I paid five dollars for all three.

Goodwill Find!

It is hard to see this gown or dress against the white shower curtain. I don't know which it is a gown or a dress. The tag does not look like a tag for sleep ware, so I am more inclined to say it is a vintage dress. I fell in love with all the lace. If get the nerve to cut it up, I will use the lace in projects.

This is the cuff of the sleeves. It has lace at the cuff and all the way up and down the sleeves.

This is an up close photo of the lace. This lace goes all the way down the length of the garment.

A small project!

This is what I played with today. I needed a box to store DVD's. So I had an old photo box stored away. It had roosters on it,but the design on the box was ugly even if it had roosters. So this is how I did a re -do on the rooster box. I just love the soft shabby chic look. My living room is traditional, but I added soft touches to soften the dark of the cherry wood. I hope you enjoy looking at these photos. Please leave comments and let me know what you think. Too soft for the entertainment center?

I placed the box on top of the entertainment center. Its centered between to delicate floral plates. I think it adds a little femininity to the dark masculine wood.

This is what the top of the box looks like. The lace circle, I have had on hand for a long time. It had the ugliest plastic roses attached to the center. Well, of course they had to go. I replaced it with some of the roses I used to make my flower arrangement in my last post. I got these roses at the dollar tree, and they have like sugary dew drops. They are so pretty for something that came from a dollar store.
The center rose is one I had in my stash. It has just enough pink to match the scrap book paper I used to cover the top of the box. The lace thingies, I took off a wedding bouquet. I bought the bouquet at a yard sale and of course took it apart. I use the separate pieces in other projects as well.

I glued ecru lace all around the box. I then had an ecru doily so I cut it in half. I glued the doily to the box, just up to where the rim of the box top. On the doily, I glued two roses and two lace thingies. I think the lace at the bottom of the doily is just so pretty.

I put a little cream organza bow on each end of the box. In the center of the bow I placed a cream fabric rose and put a pearl in the center of the rose. This is to hide the ugly handles of the box.

This is the back side of the box. I used the other half of the doily. Put another two roses and the lace thingies. I think it ties is all together nicely.

I am using this box to store my DVD's. I don't think anyone would ever guess that this box stored black plastic ugly...........LOL

How I spent my afternoon!

I apologize up front for these pictures. I don't know what happened. But I wanted to share with you how I spent my afternoon.
I took the afternoon off for a mental health break. I needed to create something....anything.........So here is what I came up with, it was a quick and short project.
I found the florals all at the Dollar Tree. The container was a yard sale find. I loved the copper color. It matches my master bedroom so very well. I know interior designers think silk flowers are of bad taste, but I still use them anyway. In the summer I have more fresh florals out, but for now.....these make me happy.
