Victorian "Banner"

Yes I have been at it again. Today I made this "bunting" or some people call them banners. Most of the materials I use I had on hand in my stash. I think the long piece of lace attaching all the banners came from Walmart. The other laces I had in my stash and I have no idea where I got them. The silk flowers I bought from SACRAFTER @Zibbett.com . The paper flowers are from Hobby Lobby , and so is the pear trims.

Christmas Posts Are Welcome!

Shabby Chic Mail Box Birdhouse

Shabby Chic Mail Box Bird House:
The foundation of this project is a paper mail box I purchased at Dollar Tree. The stand is a empty spool that stored ribbon. I initially painted every thing a cameo pink from Craft Studio. The paper pack I used from was Kirby Teesdale from by Paper Studio. I covered the inside and outside, the spool all in this paper. I had a tiny doily I had won in a give away from a blogging friend, so I centered that on top the mail box. I used a Wild Orchid Craft rose in the center. All around the doily I placed pink pearls I purchased at Walmart. The lace around the door came from Hobby Lobby. The flat back pearl trim came from Hobby Lobby as well. The large flower in the mail box lid and in the very back of the mail box came from SACRAFTER Store at Zibbet.Com. The large white pearls and the faux fur pink trim came from a yard sale. I also used card stock from Ocean Breeze to give the stand more stability.

I posted the finished product of this tray yesterday.  I wanted to post it from start to finish and how I am using it in my home.

Here is the photo of the before. As you can see it has the ugly grape and wine design.

Next I spray painted it a glossy black:

Then I mod podge the scrap book paper on the inside of the tray. The bubbles did come out after the paper dried. I also sealed it with a spray sealer.

This is how I decided to use it in my home. I am using it to coral all the little things on my kitchen table. Warning! This is subject to change at any moment and with season to season.

Good Afternoon my friends!   It has been awhile since I posted anything.  It appears I am the only one who reads my blog anyway.........as I get very few comments.
I wanted to share a project today. I found this tray at Goodwill, it was an ugly brown with a picture of grapes and wine. I am not a grape and wine kind of gal, so that had to go.
Firstly I spray painted the whole tray with a glossy black. Then I modge podged some scrap book paper, and sealed it with a sealer. It was a very simple project but I do like how it turned out. The scrapbook paper was still drying when I took this photo. So the paper has some bubbles, but once it dries it will all go away.

Hello! My friends. I thought I would post a few pictures from our family Thanksgiving Day.  It was so good to have my whole family under the same roof. We are all spread over the states, so we do not get together as a family very much.
I had so much fun playing and spending time with Mason my youngest grandchild. He is 9 months old and is the sweetest baby. He smiles all the time.

Mason:

My daughter is a great cook and she cooked Thanksgiving Dinner. She does not want anybody in the kitchen while she is cooking. If she wants you to help her she ask and then once the assigned task is done, out of the kitchen you go. LOL

My oldest son Larry, is just turned 41. He is not married.
My youngest son, is a retired  Marine Gunny Sargent. We all are University of Ky Fans.

My hubbie and Mason:  They both are adorable...........LOL

Here is the whole family around the table.  My daughter in law was sick so I did not show her picture.

Hello my friends. I am back to post the decorations that I have in the family room. I hope you enjoy!

Again I went with silver and white. Last year I did our credenza behind the sofa with this winter white theme. I loved it so much I decided to do all the decorations with the same theme.  The two candle sticks on the left were purchased at Family Dollar, needless to say they are cheaply made but pretty. The votives sitting on top are Marshall finds. I do not remember where I found the white bird, it had to be Marshall's or Ross. I had the trees for years evidently because I just found them again........LOL. The angel I gave a make over, she was very tattered so I made her pretty again. The angel to the right of the center angel is a yard sale find, I added fluffy feathers to her wings. The silver candle stick and votive are from Marshall's. I do not remember where I purchased the reindeer, I keep thinking it is a yard sale find.

The only changes I made on the entertainment center were the two candle sticks with the votives. Both are Marshall's finds.  I added blue and silver glittered ornaments to the milk glass pieces I already had on display.

This is the credenza I decorated last year in the winter white theme. I used the same green garland and added some of the same picks and ornaments I had last year. Last year I had a glass Santa in the middle, but I decided not to use him this year. Instead I went with a angel theme. The votives are Dollar Tree finds and I found the two glass candle sticks at Goodwill. The two lamps I added bling to the shades because I plan to replace them after Christmas.  The two silver lamps are yard sale finds as well. They 8:00 for the pair.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  At least in our house it very much does. I know Thanksgiving is not even here yet, but we will not be home much of December. I wanted to get the decorations done before we leave!

This is the Christmas tree in the sun room. I am keeping it simple this year.

I will be back tomorrow with pics of the decoration in the family room.

I am beginning to gather all my Christmas decorations. I may start the process of decorating next week. We are going to Ky for Thanksgiving week.  When we come back from Ky we are leaving for Jamaica.
I want to get my decorating done before I go to Jamaica so I will have a Christmasy spirit to come home to.
I have been making some of the decorations I am using this year.   The  Christmas canvas are DIY using mostly from Dollar Tree, and Big Lots.  Without further a do:

We had a community Yard Sale!

This is what I did Saturday.... we had a community neighborhood sale. I tried to talk my hubbie into watching the sale so I could go........I finally convinced him in the late afternoon, so I missed all the good stuff..... His comment was " we are trying to get rid of junk" not bring more "junk in".  LOL.

Vignette

Good Morning my friends. It is 4:00 am and God only knows why I am awake this early. Since I retired, I have found there are nights that I do not sleep at all or I am awake at this time. Instead of laying in bed and tossing and turning, I just get up and try to do something productive.
I did some changes on the little black cabinet in the hall that leads to the Master Bedroom. I changed out the vignette in there a bit. I added a few more items and put some greenery in the little cream ware basket.  I thought I would share the changes. Hope you enjoy!

New Vignette for Master Bath

Before

After

I have been playing around with vignettes today for my our Master Bath window sill.  I tried three different options. I finally decided on the one with the greenery around the candle sticks.

Craft Project

I thought I would share a few of the craft projects I have completed this past weekend. I am not really a person who decorates with pink in my home. However when I craft , it is my go to color for some reason.  I hope you enjoy!

Hello , my blogging friends.  I started my day  by deep cleaning the dining room. I hand washed all my china. I love tea sets and I love beautiful tea cups. But it does require me to hand wash them when they are dusty.  I do not trust to put them in the dishwasher, even though we have a setting for hand washing.
I hope you enjoy my photos of some of my vignettes.

I had more of a spring vignette on top of this book case. I changed it to more of a fall display. I added an old silver tray and placed in it some sugared fruit. I love the pair plate for fall. The book I got at Marshall's and the lamp I think at Kirkland

This tea set is a gift from my youngest son Jeffrey. He was stationed in Okinawa and he brought this tea set back for me.

This violet set is a miss match. I have collected purple and lavender pieces over the years.

I have been collecting this Moss Rose stuff for years.  Every time I find a different piece I snatch it up and call it mine.

Hope you enjoy a few of vignettes.  I will share some more photos at a later date.

Falling up the Kitchen

My morning was utilized fall cleaning the kitchen. I added a navy blue table cloth from Kohl's  and nave blue valances that I ordered on line.   The table runner and placemat's were purchased at the craft fair at convention center here in Myrtle Beach.
I added a vase of sunflowers and added sunflowers to the shelf on the wall.
Bessie the cow use to be gold, so I got out my trusty spray paint can and gave her an update. The picture was purchased at Kirkland's on clearance.
I hope you all enjoy.

Craft Projects!

I decided to make a few craft projects. All are handcrafted by me, with the exception I did not paint the birdhouse. It is a yard sale find. If you are the designer that designed the sunflower pattern on my little cushion, please let me know and I will give you full credit. I hope you enjoy!
